Demona at the Convention Hall

This is me as Demona from the old cartoon show Gargoyles. This was my first ever cosplay at (no, not Novacon) King Con '96, and I had such a blast! I was entered in the costume contest, and I won best youth and best in show. Most of the costume was already made by my mom for another costume she had for Star Trek cosplay, and the wig was part of a lion costume. Me and my mom made the wings, gloves, booties, clothes, tail, and tiara. No matter what we tried, the wings just wouldn't stay up on their own, so I had to hold them up (maybe that's why I hate holding and carrying things these days...). It would have been so awesome if we could have made them fold over my shoulders like they do on the show, but that wasn't happening. Ah well, listening to the people gasp in awe of little ol' me during the contest was priceless. They certainly weren't expecting that.
So, through the course of that day, I had someone tell me I had a cute tail, someone asking where my big gun and bad attitude were, and during the vampire dating game when they were looking for a fresh vict.. I mean contestant, someone from the back yelled "Pick the blue girl!" I.. didn't go up, though.. I was but a shy 13 year old at the time. There was no way I was going to go on a date with some vampire dude who was, like, 235 (or early 20's, whatever's more believable ).
Yeah, yeah, I know, I was pudgy. Leave me alone about it! But at least I was still cute.
